Polymarket and Kalshi — Why Global Prediction Platforms Are Blocked in India

Polymarket and Kalshi are two of the world's largest prediction market platforms — both US-based and both using real money. In 2025 and 2026 both platforms were officially blocked for Indian users under RBI foreign exchange directives. The block was enforced at the payment gateway level, making it impossible for Indian users to deposit or withdraw funds from either platform.

This was not entirely surprising. Both platforms operate on real-money models where users deposit funds and win or lose based on prediction outcomes — a model the Indian government has now clearly classified as gambling.

For Indian users who had been using Polymarket or Kalshi as alternatives to Probo, the block left them with no legal prediction platform available anywhere.
